Schnella
I just got back from a long weekend trip in Penang, Malaysia and learned a new word from a new friend from Sydney, Down Under… “Schnella”. Apparently, it’s a word from one of the eastern European countries and can be used in a sexual way, e.g. OH JA… SCHNELLA…!! SCHNELLA…!!
We know that because it’s a word used in a dance song using a female’s voice expressing her orgasm. The funny things is, neither one of us knows what the word really means. So we just joked about it constantly by using it as part of the everyday vocabulary…
How’s the noodle? Good? Oh JA, SCHNELLA. ;p
I’m also happy to report that after years of searching, I have finally found HERO dvd. The original, not the pirated one. I found it in a record store during my trip in Penang. Along with it, I also bought THE HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS. Yes, I’m a BIG fan of KUNG FU movies.

I have that DVD...you should have asked!

thanks carey, but it's well worth the money to get it. plus, i have always wanted the original dvd because of the special features - behind the scene/making of.
I still need to watch Hero.
lol... one of these days, someone who knows what that word means will catch you using it. I can just imagine the scene.
Friend: "Hi Rudy, have you met my wife?"
You: "Oh Ja, Schnella!"
I like watching all those extras as well in the DVDs although some seem to be just fillers.
well, now i might be able to use the word schnella! i might google it first, though lol
if you're into kung fu, then you're probably looking forward to red cliff?
i liked house of flying daggers, but i couldn't understand hero as much as the critics did.
I really enjoyed Heroes and House of Flying Daggers too. I remember a kung fu movie from when I was a kid which I really loved but I can't remember the name.
I love that movie. Hero is the best.
The house of the flyring dagger, i still remember that movie from the past (when i am in SMP) love it
@vsan79 -
SMP?? wasn't that movie released just few years ago?

there are too many of them to mention or to remember. i grew up watching them all back in the 80s. well, at least the ones that made it to the local cinema back then in jakarta.

i found out that "schnella" means "faster". now that i know the meaning, it took the fun out of using the word
anyways, hero is one of those flicks that you either get or you don't. i had to watch it the second time around to really grasp the meaning behind the story and the director's approach of the whole presentation eg. colors. it helps if you're a chinese. once i understood it, i fell in love with it. i still think it's one of the best movies out there.
@ElusiveWords -
yes, i found out what it means... "faster". the extras on the dvds are the best part of dvds. i always enjoy watching the making of a movie.
@JL789 -
please do watch it and let me know what you think. it's one of those flicks that people don't always get it right away. watching it the second time really helps.
@rudyhou -
oh, so that's what it means!
i am ethnically chinese. i guess the plot didn't grab me (probably too lazy to think).
i saw red cliff at the cinemas the other day. it was alright, but i wasn't emotionally drawn to the story too much. i know, i sound like sour grapes lol. i liked red cliff more than hero, though.

i have never seen red cliff, though the sequel is already out. i heard it's good. maybe i should go and check it out.
