  • Sometime I need to stop and separate what I want from what I need. Wow, quite some difference at times.

  • I guess we should feel guilty about complaining about pety things.

  • @Fatcat723 - sometimes it's hard to differentiate the two.  you may not need what you want, but you want it so bad it feels like you need it.

@The_Eyes_Of_A_Painter - i'd say.  see if we can NOT complaint about anything for at least a month.

  • As an immigrant, I used to have think of those that are illegal as folks who cut in line.  They should go back and get in line like my dad did.  But as I grow older and a tad wiser, it's not a black and white issue.   This article is a great illustration of that.  If I was an American, I would support giving him and many like him their citizenship.  I used to think I could outwork a lot of folks but not anymore.  A lot of these folks put me to shame.

  • @ElusiveWords - no, it's not always a black n white issue.  i have friends back in the USA whom have entered into the country in the past and never made their flight back.  they now have lived there and worked there for years under the radar.  some have managed to earn a green card and those who now have them, have finally made their flight back to visit their family and then returned to USA to resume their lives.  the few who are still under the radar, well, not sure what become of them as i have lost touch.  i can only hope the best for them.

  • "walden"  is my all time favorite book and thoreau is a "hero" of mine.

  • @buddy71 - walden is my first for thoreau's writings.  i must admit, in comparison to my usual readings, this one is rather a long read, though it's not as heavy as kafka.  i'm 3/4 of the way and beginning to get the point of his writing.  in a way, i envy his courage and idealism in living his life the way he did.  i'm not surprised he has inspired many of his readers.

  • @rudyhou - i have it on my kindle. i also have an edition that has editor comments and that really opened my eyes to some of the things he was writing about is taken into account the time he was writing it.

  • @buddy71 - i wish mine includes editor's comments.  i want thoreau's writings to make sense in my head.

  • @Fongster8 - thx.  we all could use more inspiring reads like this one.

  • An inspiring share... It's difficult for those of us who call the place we live "home" to fathom how it feels to have to constantly be hiding and in an environment that doesn't want us.

  • @AzureRecollections - i know.  i wouldn't begin to think that i understand, despite of years living in the states with an international student status.
