My penmanship is very poor. I have to print everything otherwise I can't decipher my own handwriting.
Thanks for this post. I agree with the statement that the means of writing have an influence on your writing style. With that said I have to admit that my handwriting is difficult to decipher.
Yes, this has definitely faded. The decline in my own writing style is even evident to me - I write worse than I did in high school.
Some people get paid big bucks for analyzing your penmanship. You can tell alot about a person by the way they dot their i's and cross their t's
I have a love affair with the handwritten letter and frequently write them. That said, I think this is part of the natural evolution of human communication. I don't understand Olde English particularly well because English has evolved over time. I don't read the US Constitution as easily as I might because spelling conventions and penmanship styles have evolved over time.
While I will continue to write letters, I don't think I'm going to fret too much about these changes.
My penmanship was not great and got worse as I took notes durning college classes. Yes, I was in college prior to the computer. The new item was the electric typewriter lolol.
When I was in school, I used to get prize for my penmanship. But that went by the way side when I joined medical school, 'cause everything had to be written so fast.
I still send hand written notes to dear friends, and love to receive them. Unfortunatley, it is a lost art.
I collect fountain pens, because I always used them as a youth. Now when I write a check in a store, the clerk, even some one older, looks at me pens and says, "that's a cool pen" or, a young kid would say, " wow, what is it called?
Sad, no?
@Fatcat723 - @stepaside_loser - @beowulf222 - @ElusiveWords - believe it or not, the use of fountain pens has helped me to write better. even if my writing is not the best, i now can write better than i used to because fountain pens encourage me to do so.
@catstemplar2 - yes, i've heard of that. though i have yet to meet one who can do just that. @ZSA_MD - yes, sad indeed. i started collecting fountain pens since 2007 when i first experienced using one. since then it's been an obsession and i use them on daily basis. i have many pens (too many) and bottles of ink of various brands and colors. though my penmanship is nothing in comparison to "true" penmanship, i can say that i now can write better thanks to the use of fountain pens.
