  • Pen du mois (jun’12).

I rotate the use of my fountain pens on monthly basis and this my very first post on it. This month I’ve decided to use my Nakaya Piccolo in soft medium nib, fully loaded with Diamine Kensington Blue ink. No review of the pen and ink, though. Just sharing pics. A lazy post.

  • Such a geekish post. Belongs to FPN. *haha* Next time I would like to try this particular nib.

  •  Beautiful - I use jet black ink!

  • I remember using Mont Blanc and Parker fountain pens years ago while growing up in Hong Kong, should have saved those pens!

  • @CurryPuffy - *gasping-for-air* You threw them away????!!! :-O My little fountain pen heart is bleeding. You, sir, will head straight to fountain pen purgatory.

  • @beowulf222 - I was too young and innocent at that time! *blush*

  • Please continue this on a monthly basis. Very interesting to see. Plus, you have very nice penmanship.

  • I love it. I have already told you how I collect fountain pens. Will you mind too much if I did a post about my pens and showed them off?

  • Love that fountain pen.

  • Ah those pens :) I've never seen one upclose until that day I met you and Nick.

  • so so fancy :]

How did that fountain pen feel as you were pressing it onto the paper?

  • that's one fine looking pen! Is there any particular reason for rotating the use of the pens or is that just so you're utilizing them all (and not for... say wear and tear reasons, if there are any)

  • @beowulf222 - haha.. you probably right.  i did think about it, but figured that if i do post them on FPN, the members would probably expect me to do a review on both pen and ink, which i just can't be bothered to do.

@Fatcat723 - ah! another fountain pen user.  i'm pleased to hear so :)

@CurryPuffy - ah, such a shame.  now a days with everything electronically done, we unfortunately don't appreciate pens as much.  i miss the nostalgic feel of pen on paper on regular basis.  yeah, i'm a bit conventional.

@christao408 - thx, chris.  yeah, i do plan to have this as a regular monthly post.  keep your fingers crossed for me :)

@ZSA_MD - zakiah, i would LOVE to read a post on fountain pens from you.  to me, the whole idea of "pen on paper" gives the same respect to the idea of "writing".  i have this nostalgic longing for how things are done in the past, now that everything done electronically.  and thx for the recommendation.

@Grannys_Place - thx so much for the comment.  i appreciate you stopping by and thanks for the recommendation :)

@oxyGENE_08 - @Devilzgaysianboi - what most people failed to understand is, a fountain pen is a PEN.  a writing utensil.  so it should not be a foreign sight to the majority.  unfortunately, with everything done electronically now a days, pens become something that is almost obsolete.  fortunately, there are many brands out there that sell affordable fountain pens.  so from students to celebrities, we all could afford to play with one.

@paperblanks - i'm the kind of guy who always use what i buy.  i don't buy things to have them kept and be displayed.  i'm not a collector.  i'm more of a user.  thus, i can't stand keeping things that are only to be looked at.  plus i enjoy the feel of "writing", thus with so many in my collection, i have no choice but to rotate them on monthly basis.  but yeah, fountain pens are one of those things that are actually feel better in hand the longer you have used them, as you have learned to get to know them.  each pen can behave differently.

  • @rudyhou - I remember what I said during our meet-up "I never write anything on paper anymore" ~ that explains my very poor handwriting. :(

  • I like that it's very masculine looking.

  • @oxyGENE_08 - all it takes is practice, gene.  not too difficult.

@TNugents__Right - thx.  i feel the same way.  maybe a bit too short for many guys but fits right in my hand and writes well.  and it's nice and simple. very japanese.

  • Interesting post.  I just can't quite find a good fountain pen around where I live. Most of the stores either sell fancy looking ballpoint pens in disguise or really, really cheap ones that stop working pretty quickly. -_-

  • @Lakakalo - precisely the reason i opted for a fountain pen instead.  a good fountain pen doesn't have to be expensive.  it's available in ranges of prices, depending on the brand.  if you find what you see in stores are expensive, try the internet.  i would recommend a parker, or a pilot, or a lamy, or twsbi, for a starter.  something affordable but with quality.  but it's aways best to try it out prior to the purchase.  different pens feel differently in different hands.  including the different sizes available for the nibs.

  • @rudyhou - I'm actually trying to switch over to brushes.  Liquid ink has something of a "personality" that brushes seem to enhance.

That and like I said, it's pretty difficult acquiring a decent fountain pen.  Online shopping is still not a feasible solution in Bangladesh. -_-

  • @Lakakalo - i miss my high school days of doing water-color paintings using brushes.  as for fountain pens, give this one a try...  http://www.fountainpenrevolution.com/  it's a website selling indian branded fountain pens from india. if you can't do it online, i'm sure you can call the seller and find ways for payment and shipment.  good luck.  hope that helps.

  • @rudyhou - Er... merci beaucoup. :D
