The nib looks interesting. Do you have a closeup of that?
Macro zoom on the nib, please!
I like pens but have not seen that kind of nib - what is it?
FANCY! I need to imrpove my handwriting before I can even consider thinking buying a nice pen like this. You have good taste!
I call this pen porn...pardon me, haha~ BTW, you have nice penmanship!
That is just great Rudy. I like fine nibs on my fountain pens too.
Love the look of the notebook. What do you write in it?
Wow it's like you took a time machine back 100 years ! It would be cool to actually try using one of those old style pens and seeing how they write. People always talk about how being the age they are now they get to grow up with such amazing technology, but it's really interesting thinking about all of the stuff we missed out on from the past as well ! Take care and have a great start to the week, bye for now.
@Fatcat723 - this particular pen is called Pilot Elabo in its native country, japan. for the international market, it is called Pilot Falcon, since the nib mimics the beak of falcon bird, i suppose. unlike the rest of Pilot range of fountain pens, Pilot Falcon comes with a soft nib, hence the design. more soft and springy than the others. but not flexible, that's a totally different type.
@stevew918 - thanks, steve. actually, BECAUSE of fountain pens, my penmanship is now better than before. the use of a fountain pen somehow forces one to glide his/her pen in a certain way to fully feel the difference in using this type of pen.
@CurryPuffy - thanks, gary. yes, it is indeed a pen porn. hhmm, i like the sound of that. Pen PORN.
@ZSA_MD - i'm glad you approve. i'm guessing most of us asians write small, hence the need to write with a fine nib. but japanese nibs run finer than western/european nibs, so a japanese medium may be close to a western/european fine, depending on the brand. i have a Pilot Namiki medium and a Sailor medium-fine that write a beautiful line, fine enough to my liking. and if that's not fine enough, japanese pens always come in an extra-fine nib size as well.
@Vitamin_D - it's a tiny one that i usually bring with me whenever i get to travel. it's basically for my travelog. it's two third used now. i need to look for a new one soon.
@kyle061685 - you know, kyle, it's because all of these technologies that we have and use on regular basis that made me wanna step back and appreciate the past a little more, hence my adventure into the world of fountain pens. i kinda miss the feel of pen on paper. didn't expect to get hooked, but i did, and there is no going back
Very neat. I dont think I could use a fountain pen. The idea of it scratching against the paper sets my nerves on fire simply in anticipation.
@secade - scratching?? NO NO NO. no scratching allowed. only gliding across the paper is preferred. if scratching is all you get from the pen, you have purchased the WRONG pen to begin with.
