Pen du mois (dec’12).
This month I’m using a very special pen, my Pilot ELITE in fine nib, fully loaded with Rohrer & Klingner Leipziger Schwarz (black) ink. What makes this a special one is the fact that this particular piece was produced by Pilot Japan in the same year AND month of my birthday. Yes, this pen is as old as I am. Though it is a vintage kind, the condition of the pen is brand new when I purchased it online from a Japanese seller.
I can't tell you how weird and exciting it is to find something by chance and yet seems so 'meant to be’. It practically screamed my name when I saw it on my computer screen, and when I read the production date description, I could not resist taking my credit card out. This Pilot is a pocket size pen and I will be taking it along with me for tomorrow’s trip to Hongkong to be with my Xangan gang.
This will also be my last monthly Pen Du Mois installment. I may still post more of my many fountain pens later in 2013, but it won't be as a monthly post as I have done this year.

It's really cool you are able to know the time that pen was actually manufactured. The fact that it was made when you were born makes it even that much more special. And having it in such wonderful condition after all of those years is great. If we all took such amazing care of our possessions we'd be much better off !
Wow I didn't think you uploaded that many photos this month. Xanga really doesn't allow many photos to the people who don't pay for their premium memberships. I just pay for that as I upload so many pictures I really don't have a choice. It's truly fascinating how some things come to happen. There are so many occurrences that happen that really change the course of our lives, sometimes in such big ways, other times in very small ways, but all such fascinating events.
I'm glad to know you got the pen that was so special to you, you'll definitely have to hang on to it tight. I can imagine at times it can be hard to keep track of these pens... though I'm sure you take much greater care of them than everyone does with just some boring normal pen. I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas. Take care and enjoy your trip to Hong Kong !

It is funny to many that a person has a special pen. I have several I use only on particular occasions. Enjoy your trip!
Have a safe and wonderful trip to HKG with the gang!
Hmm....that's a very meaningful acquisition. I hope you'll cherish this special pen, and I'm very curious to take a peek of it!
I am a fan of Pilot pens. A FAN! Let me tell you. I have owned every ink(fluid) pilot pen they ever made from the 6th grade on. 2-3 bucks a pop was a lot of cash for a 6 grader. I even had a fountain pen that they made for a short while However it was always extra fine for me. Exxxxxtra fine!
I am still searching for my Parker with the hooded nib.
I am happy you found the pen that has so much coincidental history with you. Enjoy it in good health. Have a great trip to HK.
What do you use pens for nowadays?
@kyle061685 - thanks, kyle. yeah, of all the fountain pens i own, this is the one i'd keep if i were to give up all of my pens. since the arrival of this particular pen, no other new pens seem worth buying anymore. well, scratch that. there are a couple that i set my heart on. but the point is, i no longer look at other pens the same way. i certainly not easily fall for the skin-deep beauty of a pen as easily anymore. as a proof, i did not even visit a single pen shop when i was in HK. i was happy just eating my way around the city without any shopping.
@Fatcat723 - thanks, robert. yeah, a of people would have a special reason for liking a certain possession. and this one is the one for me because of its production date. however, the fact that it is a great pen and a sight for my sore eyes, that is a plus on my book.
@ElusiveWords - thank you, matt. we wished you were there with us. i was able to be with 6 other xangans and we did one heck of a culinary experience.
@CurryPuffy - now that you have taken a peek at it and wrote with it, hope you are less likely to think of me as a nut-case for liking fountain pens that much
@Scrooge0 - you are too?? HI FIVE, bro. you rarely get to know people who like fountain pens now a days. pilot pens are certainly among the best. considering you like yours x-tra fine, i assume you write small, as i do. this is why most of my fountain pens come in a fine or extra fine nib, with the exception to a couple of medium ones.
@ZSA_MD - thank you, zakiah. i hope you are able to find that special pen of yours in the near future.
@Wangium - errr... chopsticks? earwax? weapon? :p
