To think I would have a strong enough will to resist Kit Kat. Boy, was I wrong. Especially when it comes to Japanese Kit Kat. I can't help but salivating when I see the many flavors of Japanese Kit Kat bars. I have tried their cheesecake, pear, and matcha (powdered green tea) flavored ones, but they kept coming up with brand new flavors. It is impossible NOT to fall for them. Once again, Japanese Kit Kat won. I had to give in. I had to. I mean, just look at the flavors; apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, citrus, green beans, red beans, roasted tea, and taro!!
They all come with a different type of chocolate coating. Some coated in white chocolate, some in milk chocolate, and some in dark chocolate, depending on the flavor. From these choices, my favorite would have to be the citrus flavor. Not only because I love all things citrus, but also because I think this one has the strongest flavor profile, enough to stand out from the sweetness of the chocolate. Although, cinnamon and roasted tea came close. Everything else just tasted sweet on my palate. Or maybe I just ate too much that I could no longer tell the difference. Oh, well
I heard they already came up with the cookies-n-cream, dark chocolate, sakura flower, strawberry, and wasabi flavored ones. I wonder what new flavors they’ll come up with next.

I just had the sakura green tea, regular green tea and the strawberry cheesecake one today...slowly (or not so slowly) finishing up my stash from Japan. Lol!
It's been a long time since I have had Taro. Not all elephant ear looking plants are taro or edible.
Chocolate coated everything makes it taste good. I think long ago I had chocolate covered grasshoppers.
i love asian food and snacks. so much yummier!
That is not fair, i have a weakness for kitkat and i have been trying to loss weight.
I've only seen the green tea Kitkat here a couple of times. I had no idea they have so many other flavours.
They are more healthy than the American ones - and look more tasty.
I remember my first time in Japan, and marveling at all the new delicacies. Those do look amazing!
I LOVE THOSE!
Wow most of these are brand new for this year. Where did you get such a lovely assortment?
I've had the wasabi, surprisingly it was very good. I've also had ginger, hokkaido milk, green tea, which you do not have listed. I should pull up my pictures for all the ones I've had, I know I have had way more
Wow ! This entry was so cool and fascinating for me to read. I had no idea there were so many different kinds of Kit Kat flavours available in Japan. Here we have a number of different M&Ms flavours, but I've only seen the normal Kit Kat in the red packaging. And in Mexico it's exactly the same, the normal Kit Kat with the red packaging, that looks exactly the same as a Kit Kat from Canada or the US only with Spanish packaging.
You've certainly enlightened me about the world of Kit Kat and about just how much I had no idea existed in the world. It's fascinating to know that every country probably has their own types of chocolates and chocolate companies, but just as interesting wondering how many of the same chocolates have different varieties that only exist in certain countries.
Thanks for posting this, it was super cool to read ! Take care and have an awesome rest of the week and enjoy your Kit Kat bars !
Kyle
Nobody can resist Japanese Kit Kats, what with their many exciting flavors! =D
I’m not a big fan of junk foods and candies, but I do like to sample the uncommon, odd versions. Probably the easiest to do that with stateside are those Hostess fruit pie type of things. There are (or were) some berry flavors and peach and lemon that you couldn’t easily get, and it’s hard to find a McDonalds that still has a cherry pie, believe it or not—but the ones in Hawaii do sell a taro pie! Weirdly flavored potato chips are another one, I guess. I’ll have to keep the Kit Kats in mind …
@JL789 - yay. good for you. i never tasted those that you have. damn it, this just means i need to go back to japan.
@PPhilip - chocolate covered grasshoppers? you must be quite an adventurous kind of dude, phil. thumbs up to you. and thanks for the rec
thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment.
@consignedhearts111 - yeah, aren't they?
@stevew918 - now, now, steve. calm down. don't you worry. i can help you eat them all 'till you reach your goal weight and THEN i'll share you some ;p
@ElusiveWords - matt, i think japan is the only country that does so many flavors for kitkat.
@Fatcat723 - have you noticed the packaging and how they include the number of calories for each? this is another aspect of japan that i love. they include such information on pretty much all food n beverage products to be consumed by the public.
@CareyGLY - yeah, i can never get enough of japanese snacks. japanese packaged foods there ALL look like a must-have. such eye candies
@oxyGENE_08 - i figured you are a chocolate-lover kinda guy.
@NIMOnkey - i got them as a gift. but i never had those you mentioned. damn it, another trip to japan needs to be planned out in the near future.
@kyle061685 - yes, with my traveling experiences, i found different countries do different flavors of popular snacks that are available internationally. especially when it comes to american products. but none of them do as good of a job as japan. japan is a haven for food enthusiasts, especially when it comes to sweet snacks. it's in their culture. as they often accompany something sweet to go with their tea.
@christao408 - you got that right, chris
@n_e_i_l - i have just recently tasted taro pie at McD. they sell them here in south east asia regions. not bad. though won't be my first choice. thanks for the rec
yayyyy a kit kat post! i loveeeee weird flavored kit kat! esp. japanese ones. =) (i've tried a few from europe as well, not as adventurous).
my fav kitkat flavor is raspberry and passion fruit, that came out in 2010 around valentines day in japan but i had bought it in HK. it was delicious!!! sometime last year they came out with an tofu almond flavor and its really good. =) another unique one was a pancake with butter and syrup flavor.it was strange to be eating breakfast in the form of a kit kat.
i had that apple one though. did you like it? i thought it was gross!
@Soapie - i have never tried those raspberry and passionfruit and tofu almond ones. i would have loved those. i never even knew that europe has came up with their own flavors. i tried the apple flavor but i thought the flavor was too weak to withstand the flavor or the chocolate, and so i only tasted sweetness. i don't think the flavors of apple and chocolate meant to be best friends, though cinnamon apple may work well with chocolate.
dude, I love Japanese Kit-Kat. I tend to love a lot of Japanese versions of American staples... i.e. McDonalds... Shake-Shake Fries!
actually, nestle owns kit kat globally, but hershey has the rights over kit kat in america so that's why the american kit kats are the original kit kat and there is very little variation. in europe the flavors i tried were hazlenut, caramel, crunchy (there is more wafer in there. it's good!), dark...
i haven't had cinammon kit kat yet although if it doesn't exist yet, i'm sure they'll make one some day! i have had chili pepper kit kat and it wasn't bad. chocolate with a hint of spice.
@Xx_DeUce_xX - here in indonesia, McD offers fried chicken, rice, soup, and plenty of help-yourself chili sauce one may want
when i was in china, i learned that they sell pork McMuffins there. and in singapore they offer taro pie, along side with the regular apple pie, as well as curry sauce for their chicken McNuggets.
@Soapie - i had no idea they too offer different flavors of kitkat in europe. chili pepper kitkat? interesting. they should make them available here in indonesia, as most locals here prefer their food spicy.
